In my State of the Province Address (SOPA), I have highlighted accomplishments within our identified economic drivers of eco-cultural and agro-industry that this more than a year-old administration had done so far and how these had contributed to the economic growth of the province, for the upliftment of the lives of our fellow Boholanos.
A very significant recognition in 2023 is the declaration of Bohol as the first and only UNESCO Geopark site in the Philippines. This designation comes with diverse opportunities but also greater responsibility.
The responsibility to uphold the designation and the accomplishments that this Annual Report 2023 shows cannot be carried through without the profitable collaboration of the national government agencies and private sectors, the indispensable partnerships and resourcefulness of the local chief executives and different departments of the provincial government, and the involvement of the Bol-anons for whom these activities and programs are all painstakingly initiated for their welfare and economic advantage. Through the Strategic Governance Roadmap, the Aumentado-Balite administration anchored its aspiration of positioning Bohol as a “Smart-Resilient Province advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture and Sustainable Tourism”.
In this Annual Report for CY 2023, programs and projects instituted for set off by the local government units, national government agencies, and civil society organizations are included. This Report follows the format prescribed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and is further organized according to the sectoral classification of the Regional Development Council (RDC), as follows: Economic Development, Social Development, Development Administration, Environmental Management and Infrastructure Development.
As we move forward to this year 2024, 23 2ill expect more collaboration, cooperation and development initiatives to be pushed forward in order to bring about the breakthrough that we aspire for as an island province.
