by Governor Edgar M. Chatto
In his homily, Fr. Lito Geangan makes us reflect “It has been five years since the earthquake happened. Are we still looking for signs that God has not forsaken us?” in commemorative mass for the October 15, 2013 earthquake.
He said the earthquake was a display of God’s goodness and love that is beyond comparison.
Gov. Edgar Chatto in a short message after the mass said prayers are offered especially for those whose lives were lost to the earthquake. It is also a thanksgiving because the earthquake brought us closer to God and gave us an opportunity to recover, he said, as Boholanos continue journey towards resilience. The path to recovery would have been difficult without everyone helping and working with each other, he added.
Bishop Emeritus Leo Medroso led special prayers as church bells tolled and sirens blared at exactly 8:12am.
The Holy Mass was also concelebrated by Fr. Richard Calapan and Fr. Sinforiano Monton.
Guests from the Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan were also in attendance along with Provincial officials.
The Nagoya Institute of Technology will hold a Bohorizon International Symposium this afternoon. They have been assisting Bohol with programs enhancing capacity of participatory disaster management with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and LGU Tubigon.
