PDC Bohol discusses Philippine Rural Development Projects

Gov. Edgar Chatto led the Provincial Development Council Executive Committee meeting on July 28, 2015 at the Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City. Regional Director Angel Enriquez of the Department of Agriculture Region 7 encouraged the honorable governor to submit more proposals for funding by the World Bank through Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP). Regional Training Director Marina Hermoso presented and discussed the value chain analysis on seaweeds under the World Bank funded PRDP.

Likewise, Mr. Franco Villaruel presented the Provincial Commodity Investment Plan for the information of the PDC ExeCom members. On the other hand, Atty. John Titus Vistal, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, shared his thought that it is high time government officials discard the old Boholano mindset and start to think big in terms of developing the seaweeds industry.

To address poverty in the countryside, interventions in the seaweed industry will be provided to increase production and expand the industry, hence, increasing livelihood and improving the lives of fisherfolks. Aside from the developments in the Danajon area which is a separate focus, the PRDP will implement rural infrastructure and development projects that are quite important in achieving agriculture and fishery goals. A World Bank visit is also expected to happen in September in Bohol.

Ms. Florlinda Amora, Provincial Budget Officer, presented the Supplemental Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for CY 2015 in the amount of P28,297,742.00, which Ms. Emilia Roslinda passed a resolution, duly seconded by Ms. Marietta Gasatan, endorsing such AIP to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
