Bohol identifies priority tourism infrastructure

A consultative workshop was conducted by the REID Foundation, in cooperation with the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and other stakeholders of Bohol to identify the priority tourism infrastructure in the province.

The workshop’s output was presented by Ms. Marietta Gasatan of BCCI to the Provincial Development Council (PDC) Executive Committee during its February 17th meeting. From the 45 Tourism Road Infrastructure Project Prioritization (TRIPP) of the Province of Bohol, only seven (7) projects were identified for prioritized Tourism Road Infrastructure Projects for CY 2013. Bohol’s 1st District Congressman Rene Relampagos suggested to include the Catagbacan- Antequera-Maribojoc Road. The body agreed on the final priority list, as follows:
1. Tagbilaran Airport Road Area
2. Tagb-Corella-Sikatuna-Loboc
3. Panglao Island Circunferential Road
4. Tagb. North Road (Jetafe-Danao-Carmen Sect)
5. Jagna-Sierra Bullones-Tubigon Roads (road to port, nautical highway)
6. Dat-an-Carmen-Sierra Bullones-Pilar-Alicia Road
7. Balilihan-Hanopol-Batuan Road
8. Catagbacan-Antequera-Maribojoc Road

Cong. Relampagos moved for the approval of the identified eight (8) Priority 2013 Tourism Road Infrastructure Project of the Province of Bohol. The body then unanimously passed PDC ExeCom Resolution No. 04-2013 favorably endorsing the proposed priority Tourism Road Infrastructure Projects for Bohol for CY 2013 to the DPWH-Regional Office VII and the Regional Development Council (RDC-7) for support and subsequent endorsement.

  1. Sir/Madam,

Kining Rahabilation Mahayag-Katipunan road murag naundang man ang ilang pagrehabilate sa maong kalsada.

Hinaut-unta nga magpadayon kining maong project tungod kay usa kini sa alternatibo nga road paingon sa Danao Tourist attraction ug ikaduha usa pud kini nga access sa atong pag-improve sa agri-business and agri-eco tourism.

As a Boholano, I pray & support “Padayon Bohol sa Kauswagan”

    Thank you,

    • Dr. Mr. Deligero,

Thank you for the comment you submitted.

According to reports we gathered, a rehabilitation project on the Mahayag-Katipunan Road was completed in 2012. However, the project does not seem to cover the entire road but on certain sections only. For 2013, repair and maintenance activities is being conducted. Another project is proposed for 2014 for the upgrading of the said road, but still this will only cover some portions, not for the entire road. For more detailed information, you may refer queries to the Provincial Engineer’s Office of the Provincial Government of Bohol regarding this matter.
