Governor Edgar Chatto led the Provincial Development Council Executive Committee (PDC ExeCom) meeting on October 9, 2015 at Reyna’s the Haven and Gardens. The PDC ExeCom favorably endorsed to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan the proposal to add the supplemental amount of Seven Million Pesos (P7,000,000.00) to the Annual Investment Program for CY 2015.
Governor Chatto informed that the supplemental amount of P7,000,000.00 is the Performance Challenge Fund, which is part of the package of incentives that Bohol received when it was conferred with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). The SGLG, which originated from the Seal of Good Housekeeping program in 2010, is introduced to provide greater challenge to local governments to continue good governance practices while providing better services.
The Performance Challenge Fund is targeted to be used for the improvement of the road leading to the Bohol Biodiversity Complex (BBC). The BBC has several tourism sites, which include the Bohol Environment Advocacy Center, the Regional Climate Change Center, Endemic Tree Nursery, Karst Management Trail, Dipterocarp Production Facility, Vermi Composting Facility, Rainforestation Farm.
The BBC was particularly chosen to be financed by the Performance Challenge Fund because it is a high impact development project and eligible under Performance Challenge Fund – Maintenance of Core Road Network to Boost Tourism and Local Economic Development.
